Appointments

Our consults are guided by you.  We are located in a non-medical and personal setting.  Appointments can be in person or by video-call.  Flexible hours and urgent appointments available on request   (p. 0408195528).   


Initial appointments are for one hour to allow enough time for assessment, discussion and testing.

COVID-19 Information

For the safety of our staff and clients, we require that everyone coming for a face to face consult have had two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine. If this requirement is not possible for you, we can organise an appointment via video call.

If you are symptomatic or have been informed to self-isolate we can reschedule your appointment or see you by video call. Please follow all other health advice in this changing environment.

Your personal and or family, medical and genetic history will be assessed.  Your questions and concerns addressed.   Options for appropriate genetic testing and possible outcomes will be explained.  If proceeding with genetic testing, consent  and sample collection will be arranged at this appointment (saliva or blood).  


The consult is guided by you and what you wish to get from your appointment.

Emotional, practical support and counselling; provision of information, guidance or referral  to support services and funding systems as relevant to your particular circumstances, needs and priorities.  Reports and applications can be provided for you at an additional cost.  Please confirm with Marija at your consult.

How much does it cost for genetic testing?

Reproductive Carrier Screening

3-gene panels from $387 (CF, SMA & Fragile X)

Expanded panels from $500 per couple.

Options include:

Sonic Beacon expanded screening - $595 per person or $1190 per couple.

Invitae comprehensive carrier screen - US$250 per person or US$350 per couple.

Genomics for Life expanded screen - $595 pp (7-10 working day results).

Adult diagnostic testing (including cancer panels) and Proactive Health screening

From $350.00 -  ask if a medicare rebate may apply.


Genetic testing is available for affected or unaffected individuals with a personal or family history of genetic disease or cancer.  Proactive Health screening is available for individuals that want to know if they are at risk of cancer or cardiovascular disease later in life.


Pharmocogenomic testing

~ from $500 per person, includes a personalised report.


The test covers medications for a wide range of medical conditions, including cancer, psychiatric conditions, chronic pain, cardiovascular disease, and more.


Results are compiled into a comprehensive report, which contains genotype/phenotype information for 27 genes, as well as information on each of the 300+ medications covered by the test.  Reports can be used to assist your doctor to tailor your medications to your individual responsiveness.  


A follow-up consult with a specialised Clinical Geneticist is available to assist with understanding and getting the most out of your report.

Non-Invasive Pre-Natal Paternity Testing (NIPPT)

This non-invasive blood test is available to you from 7 weeks gestation, 10 weeks gestation is the optimum time. A simple blood test can determine the paternity by analysing the cell-free DNA from the maternal blood. The results from this testing will be available within 10-15 working days from the receipt   of your samples at the laboratory. 


The cost of this testing, including the consult is $1450. A blood sample from the mother and blood samples from one or more alleged father's are required.  


Collection fees may be applicable.

Paternity Testing

A Paternity Test is the simplest way to determine who the biological father of a child is. 


If you would like to discuss paternity testing, the consult fee and cost of testing of one alleged father is $350 (DNAQ).

HOW DO I PAY?

Consult fees can be paid at the time of booking online by credit or debit card, or upon invoice.  Some appointments require a deposit up front. Please note, if you cancel within five days of your appointment we will not be able to refund your deposit. If you postpone your appointment your deposit will remain. There is no medicare or health fund rebate available for your consult fee.  Some testing is covered by medicare - please ask.  NDIS may cover Social work consultations.


Most genetic testing costs are paid directly to the laboratory.


There may be a courier cost for samples sent to the US.
